At UK Book Binders, we take pride in everything we produce. We have been print finishing for over 35 years, and have a combined experience of over 250 years in the trade. There are some things that remain constant such as our attention to detail, the quality of our goods and our care for those who use our services. Please browse our site to get a better idea of who we are and what we do.
We offer PUR (Polyurethane) and Perfect binding and one of our specialists will advise on which method best meets your needs.
PUR is a reactive glue which is resistant to solvent migration, heat and cold crack and provides superior strength over perfect or burst binding. it is recommended for high use books such as Annual Report & Accounts, Guide Books and Catalogues.
Perfect binding is this is the most cost effective form of producing a square back book bound with adhesive. It is suitable for most materials up to 170gsm, can be used for loose leaves and will produce a durable finished product.
We offer one of the largest thread sewn capacity’s in the UK with the capability to sew in excess of 26,000 sections per hour. The thread sewing process offers one of the strongest forms of binding. It’s ideal for high quality publications that require a long shelf life, such as Annual Reports and Accounts, Guide Books, Catalogues and Brochures. Our Multiplex Sewing Machine gathers pre folded sections and thread sews through the spine fold to form a sewn book block that then has hot melt glue applied to the spine and a cover drawn on.
Saddle stitch refers to the popular bookbinding method in which folded sheets of paper are inset one inside the other and stapled through the center line with wire staples. The staples pass through the folded crease from the outside and are clinched between the innermost pages.
This binding method works best for lower page counts and is the most cost effective bookbinding method, while still producing a professional looking product. Our Muller Martini BravoPlus has 6 stations plus cover feeder and is also capable of producing 2-up work for smaller format jobs using the 4th/5th knife attachment as well as loop stitching.
With the ever changing print industry, it has never been more important to offer the most efficient service for our customer without any compromise on quality. It is for that reason that we recently invested in to a brand new Horizon Digital PUR Binder and Trimmer.
This new Digital Binder and Trimmer means that we are now able to take on much shorter runs from our clients as well as also increasing the speed of deliver.
If you’re after a fast and reliable service with the highest possible quality, this is the binding style for you.
We offer a Case Binding service through a trusted third party.
We have produced many prestigeous titles to date.
We create sewn book blocks using our Multiplex Sewing line and a Kolbus Case Binding machine to affix the cases.
If you are interested in Case Binding, please do not hesitate to give us a call to talk through your needs or to request a quotation.
Offering a wide range of print finishing services is a must in today’s fast paced print industry. It is for that reason that we have recently incorporated lamination to our list of binding and print finishing services.
Laminating your printed work has a wide range of benefits, such as increasing the durability of the print, protecting it from dirt, abrasions and other potential contaminants whilst also adding a quality finish.
Catering for both Litho and Digital Printers, our laminator is capable of producing thermal anti scuff, soft touch, matt and gloss lamination as well as digitstick matt and digitstick gloss for the digitally printed work.
Our machines can fold anything from the single fold of a 4pp, to a 32pp - and most options in between. We offer all standard folds but have built a reputation for producing more unusual folds such as 18pp sections or 12pp sections, that create closed gate folds. Impositions and lay downs can always be provided if required.
